If your pet dog is biting you and other family members, then you should take care that he does not repeat it in regular basis. It may also happen that he might eat your most priced item and even tear up the furniture. However, this can stop, if you stop any of the playful or aggressive biting. If puppy is biting you or other family members, his behaviour must be stopped instantly. If he is allowed to continue biting when he is young, he might bite when he grows as an adult dog and this can spell big trouble for you and for your dog.

Types of biting

At the most, there are two types of biting. One is a normal biting and another is aggressive biting. Playful biting is quite common behaviour in puppy litters. They play, tumble, romp, bite and also nip and all of this behaviour is common. When you bring a pup home, for him all of the family members become his pack. As biting is normal behaviour in a litter pack, you can find your fingers, arms or hands being bitten by your puppy. When you play with your puppy, you will find your hands inside his mouth. This is known as mouthing and all puppies do it, but this should not be continued.

Say no to playful biting

The teeth of your puppy can be as sharp as a razor and it won’t be long until your hands get riddled with puncture marks. When the puppy bites, you should cuddle him to your chest and encircle his muzzle with your other hand and say at the same time, firmly “No”. After a repetitive reprimand the puppy will grow and realize that his playful biting is not accepted and it would give up such annoying habit. When you encircle your puppy’s muzzle, you have to do it gently and firmly. For this, you have to be sure that your hand is not over his nose and he can breathe easily. Such method of training won’t work if other family members are not participating in the training. Let all members of the family know that a rough play may not be tolerated.

Chew toys

There are other chew toys which you can buy for your puppy to chew. You can encourage the puppy to play with you and praise him whenever he chews the right toy. But, when he chews any of the household items, you will have to take them and replace them with one of the chew toys. This way, he can learn what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. There are other tools like you can spray bitter apple on your hands for the puppy to discourage further biting. At this moment, you have to be careful that the spray should not get into your eyes and your mouth and also not on our puppy’s face. Repetition of this action is the key to discourage the puppy from biting.

The fur of your dog is very important keeping your dogs health into account, maintaining it in good shape and clean in a way keeping your dog happy, clean and healthy. Not taking of your dog’s fur in optimum condition will result in causing knots and tangles appear on your dogs coat making dwelling place for pests, insects and making your dog uncomfortable. The type of fur depends on the type of dogs and with various cross breeds as well as different looking dogs, and describing about each fur will be difficult. There are many kinds of fur and few of them take care of themselves better than others but the general conception is that a longer dog coat normally tangles.

For maintaining the fur on your dog, you should take care of it on regular intervals and it demands plenty of grooming and this factor should be considered while buying a dog. But grooming should not be a daily routine job that you have to do it for your dog as grooming is considered to be a special bond between dog and the owner and flourishes comfort and trust for your dog allowing them to train easily.

Steps recommended

The very first steps that can be taken is to buy a god comb suiting the fur on your dog, also ensure that the comb does not have any sharp edges as well as is comfortable while you use it on him/her without hurting his or her skin. Your local pet shop or vet will be able to assist you and advice you on choosing the perfect comb. However, this will be judgment point as it will depend entirely on your dog whether he will like it while combing or no.

Once you choose the comb for your dog, grooming should be done frequently and you should perform it thoroughly each time. You should make sure that all the tangles and knots are removed in the process. If this is the first time you are combing your dog’s fur, then you might find a little difficult to start, thus start slowly with doing a bit every time ensuring your dog does not get discouraged and making him dislike the grooming process.

Once the initial combing is completed, the more frequently you perform grooming the easier will the process get. Keeping a gap for longer periods if duration is not advisable as this indicates that the process will hurt your dog while the combing is performed on him/her. If you find difficult or tough to comb your dog, then a dog bath will be recommendable for your dog thus causing ease to detangle and enhance the health of your dog’s fur.

Saloon

Health can also be taken care of your dog by taking him to saloon on regular basis. Maintaining hygiene will eventually result to keep your dogs away from disease. Hair cutting is the major part that takes care of fleas and insects. Nail cutting will help to keep the dirt accumulating in the nails. Also, conditioning will turn out to be a good option.

There are many times when you see that when you offer your dog some expensive toys they will play with it for sometime but they will go back to the old fashion stick. Here are some tips that you can follow to make the dog’s toy.

Chewing stick

For this you can take an old t-shirt, three sticks, scissors and a duck tape. Cut the old t-shirt horizontally. Lay a stick on a strip of clothes and wrap it around. At both ends put the duck tape. Follow this same instruction with the other two sticks. Cross the wrapped sticks to make a triangle shape and stick them all on each end. Try to keep the shapes in a perfect manner. This becomes a chewing stick which your dog can play at the same time.

Your dog will love to play with stuff toys. If you buy it then, it might burn a hole in your pocket but then you can always make it. Take any old pair of jeans, scissors and soft wools.

Cut the pair of jeans in any shape you want. See what size and shape you want and then cut it into equal parts. Stitch the sides but leave a small portion so that you will put the wool inside it. After you fill up the cloth bag, stitch the remaining. Your dog’s soft toy is ready now.

Toys from socks

Don’t throw away those old or single socks. Making a sock toy is extremely easy. Take at least three to four old socks and tie them all of them at each end making it into a rope. Your dog will love to play with the sock rope. There are also other shapes you can make out from your old socks. Put some wool or smaller socks in a large sock and stitch the opening. This will be a good chewing toy.

Put the soft wool and the squeaky toy inside the clothe bag. After that stitch all the edges and see how your dog loves it.

Dogs love toys; it’s not possible for a dog to live without toys. Toys help in keeping them sharp and healthy as a playful dog is a healthy dog. It is not necessary that dogs toys have to be expensive or that they have to be cute. Because dogs do not care of their toys are expensive or how cute the new toy you bought for them is. Once you have given the dog a toy, he will take it to a place where he feels comfortable and will start playing there. Dogs generally chew and tear their toys, squeaky toys usually scare them. The most important factor that the owner should keep in mind while buying a dog toy, is that it should be safe and entertaining for the dog. While buying a dog toy always keep in mind that they like to chew their toys, so buying a toy which is too big will only hinder in his chewing habit. So make sure that the toy if of reasonable size and that the dog can play with it.

One should restrict himself from buying toys which will tear off, stick to toys which are durable. Weak toys which leave pieces could choke the dog injure his gums and can even get stuck on his teeth. Every owner wants to buy his dog a toy and so the rising need for dog toys has made a remarkable change in this field. There are a variety of toys to choose from, they range from hard toys to soft toys, and dental health toys are also available in the market. The newest and the most attractive ones are the talking toys. They are available in all shapes and sizes. But always think about the dog’s safety while choosing a toy for your dog. Toys play an important role in the well being of a dog’s life. They help in the emotional and mental development of your puppy. Toys are also used to treat separation anxiety. If you are tired of your dog chewing off your furniture, then its time for you to buy him a toy. Many dog trainers ask the owners to buy lots of toys if they have brought home a puppy.

In case you are going out of the house and your dog is used to staying around, leave his toys out, this will distract him and keep him away from separation anxiety. Never leave the same toy around for too long, many trainers recommend their clients that they should change their toys every 3 days. Such rotation of toys will keep him interested in the toys and away from boredom. Its wise to buy toys for your dig according to his size. Always stay alert and make sure that there are no small pieces that he can chew off and swallow, there are chances that he may choke himself. Buy different kind of toys for your dog and see which one he like, don’t keep his favorite toy in front of him for two long as he would get bored of it. This would help you stay away from constantly buying toys for your dog.
